Assessment of groundwater at Kurukshetra district

Abstract Mankind depends on surface water and groundwater resources to meet basic requirements. Groundwater is a limited resource that can be replenished. Instead of water, an alternate supply region's demand for household, agriculture, industrial uses. As result, thorough assessment required ensure the resource's long-term viability. The main aim research identify potential zones using remote sensing quantification resources. In present study, were identified by weighted overlay technique in ArcGIS software considering eight influencing factors, estimation was carried out GEC 2015 methodology. study discovered area has good potentiality southern region. Further estimates made period April 2020–March 2021 taking into account recharge rainfall, irrigation return flow, seepage canals, draft industries, domestic, irrigation, evapotranspiration. reveals net 0.16284361 million ha-m depleted area. This analysis concludes critical becoming overexploited zone.
